3/30/07 01:33 pm - My stein collection's growing again.

I'm gonna have to build shelves. A lot of them got broken during the divorce and "accidentally" while I was packing up to move up. However, I've been acquiring some real beauties while I've been wandering the flea markets. They're just sitting around on things at present, but I think I'm going to look for a nice cabinet for them. They deserve to be shown off.

Yeah, I'm doing well.

1/4/07 09:29 pm - Well, here I am.

Believe it or not, I've been keeping a real journal on paper. It was on the advice of my psychologist. Yup, I went to see one. I realized that my life was just stalled, what with being forced into early retirement and bachelorhood at the same time. So, I started scribbling everything down about my feelings in a big old leather-covered book, and only stopping by LJ every now and then to look at [info]42answers.

I'm doing better. I'm thinking about taking some courses about antiques and maybe hitting the road this summer as an antiques picker for a buddy of mine who has a shop down on Cherokee Street. He's been teaching me what to look for, but I want to learn more. I've also been singing bass in a local church choir that really needed singers and isn't too fussy about my theological leanings. The choirmaster likes the fact that I can handle it when he wants to do works by Bach, and I like singing with them. It gives shape to my weeks.

So, happy 2007 to y'all.

7/29/06 12:08 am - Hi.

Been too down to post much, but I can't resist [info]42answers. I'll see if I can bring myself to write a little about what's been going on, but I doubt it. See you around.

2/1/06 11:48 pm - Damn it anyway!

My sister-in-law's too much. She never ceases to amaze me. She manipulates my brother into telling my niece she has to move out of the house. Then she takes over the kid's old room, repaints it, makes it into a sewing room for herself, and throws away everything that Sherry had in it. Just throws it away. She doesn't pack it up for her, no! She just tosses it. In fact, I just found out, she went through the house and found everything that Sherry had stored in the basement and the attic and threw that out too.

Good God. I know Sherry's not her kid, but what a way to treat her! Here's the worst part. A friend of mine cuts hair at the same salon Rita goes to. Apparently she came in last week with a buddy of hers to get her legs waxed or something, and was boasting to the buddy that she's managed to get Curt blamed for everything she did. That's right! Sherry called Rita up and asked about her stuff, and Rita told her that Curt threw it away. Because there was such a big scene when Sherry moved out, the poor kid actually believed Rita. Rita was laughing about it.

I tried calling Sherry up and telling her the truth, but she doesn't believe me, and I know that Curt thinks the sun shines out of Rita's ass. I don't know what the hell to do.

12/11/05 08:23 pm - Here's something cool

BBC Radio3 are playing all of J. S. Bach's works over ten days. They also have a cute Bach Christmas calendar with quizzes about life in his day, pictures, etc. They go ahead and show him as the hard-drinking, brawling, argumentative, life-loving guy he was. It cheers me up a lot just to go to that site.

12/11/05 08:15 pm - Well, where the hell have I been?

I've been thinking, that's what. I've been wandering around, kicking dead leaves, slipping on old snow, trying to make sense of things.

I just don't know. One of the things my ex-wife used to do was to email all our friends and tell them about whatever she felt I'd done wrong. She did it so skillfully that I looked like an utter jerk if I tried to stand up for myself. Anything I said seemed like the "Uh, but, yeah, um, you went out and..." comebacks of a lame bozo.

Sigh.

10/30/05 06:36 pm - That's really cool!

I like the little spider web in the corner of the page. I guess LJ does holiday themes.

I'm planning to go help my old friend Mike hand out candy to kids Monday night, and we'll watch something from his huge collection of bad horror films. I can take along some of the various pumpkins ales I've found.

Tomorrow I'm going to take a long walk no matter what the weather's doing. I've been sleeping in too much, and I don't want to get into bad habits.

10/29/05 06:52 pm - Here I am

This is an interesting place. I've been wandering around, and I find it fascinating. I think I can have some fun here. God knows I need some.
